Marathons and Wrinkles
Heavy exercise can cause aging of the skin, wrinkles, and "crows feet".

It takes two things to happen to keep skin young, healthy, and wrinkle free. The two step process is: 1. the process of break down of old skin cells; 2. the process of making new skin cells.

The body breaks down old skin cells using special enzymes. These enzymes chop up the fibers that form collagen--the connective tissue that makes up about 80% of normal skin. These special enzymes that the skin cells make are increased with excessive cardiovascular exercise like marathon running and other extreme sports. This meams these enzymes break down skin's collagen faster than skin cells can produce new collagen so the process becomes unbalanced--to much collagen destroying enzyme and not enough new collegen.

It is believed that taking anti-oxidents can stop or even reverse this damage. One is to take 200mm of lipoic acid, 1000 mg of vitamin C, and 4000 mg of glutamine before you begin to do heavy execise. This will help change this imbalance and neutralize the effects of your workout on your skin.
